False advertising and NO Service
As I travel far and wide we as a family decided that it would be an ease at heart to join Crisis on Call. Just to know that you are in good hands should the unthinkable happen. With slogans like "we manage your crisis when you are not able to" and "All Crisis on Call services are available 24/7 and country wide"and ” Who will assist you during a crisis situation” one would think that being without such a service is just irresponsible. I had the misfortune of having a ladder slip from underneath me, working on a recent project in Zeerust NW. (know that I am from Gauteng and it is about a 3hour drive ) lying on the floor in immense pain and discomfort I managed to phone Crisis on call from the number on my Wrist band. The call took about 4 minutes where I had to try and explain to the operator where exactly I am lying unable to move, the call ended were the operator told me that he will dispatch an ambulance and keep me posted... About a Half an hour later the operator phones back to tell me that they are still trying to arrange an ambulance ( which according to their radio advert are for free) by this time the Health and Safety officer on site had arranged the state ambulance to pick me up and take me to the state hospital. The Coc Operator spoke to the EMT and told him to stabilize me and take me to the state hospital and from there they will arrange for a transfer back to Pretoria. (Which never occurred?) To cut a long story short I would like to utter my utmost discuss in the way the Manager of CoC handled my case with disrespect on every phone-call towards myself and my wife. Not being able to even distinguish between my wife's and my Cell phone numbers. Not Managing my Crisis, Not being able to Arrange for an Ambulance telling me one thing and my wife another. Being arrogant, unreliable, unprofessional, disrespectful, un-helpful, unfriendly, Inaccurate, un-emphatic, all the opposite of the Crisis on Call Core Values. At the end of the day the complete and utter incompetence Of Coc led to me being discharged from The state hospital by a Doctor which led to the ambulance (that my Wife arranged through our medical) being cancelled. My Wife, Father and Brother drove from Centurion to Zeerust to come and pick me up. At the end of the day I was admitted to Midstream Emergency unit 10 hours after the incident. It was discovered that I had 3 Fractured Ribs, a fractured wrist and a Heamothorax, operated on, 3 days in intensive care and 2 days in the general ward. Not once was my case followed up by Crisis on call. I ask you? Would you leave your life in the hands of this Company.
