Damaged watch, and bad attitude

Let me start off by saying I have had pleasant experiences from Cresta Jewellers in the past. I have bought a watch from them and had two watches serviced. All went well.
Today I took my cherished watch (received from my father as a 21st birthday present) to Cresta Jewellers to replace the battery. When I collected my watch, one of the hour-markers on the face was missing (granted, this could have been due to age, that it fell off unintentionally while the watchmaker was busy working on it), and there were two scratches caused by the tool used to open it. I was upset and asked to speak to the manager.
The manager suddenly had an hostile attitude, and was not interested to even try and resolve the problem, and then proceeded to accuse me of always complaining when I am at the store. I have only complained once while in store, and that was when I purchased an expensive, but faulty watch. Anyone in my situation would have done the same.
The end result is that I have lost all trust in Cresta Jewellers, I have a broken watch that has lots of sentimental value, and I was falsely blamed for something I did not do, even though it is my right to complain so as a consumer.
