Disaster and disappointment.

At your peril!

Work done on my property was absolutely shocking. I was aware that the quote I was given was high, but had hoped that I was in good hands with an experienced team. The reality was that my job was outsourced to a partner of CPT Builders, North Projects. They used cheap material, there was no planning with the actual build/renovation at all, the workers came late every day and were left totally unsupervised for 80% of the time. They used items in my garage without asking, they stole from me and broke things without mention. In fairness to the workers, they were also tasked with a job that was far outside of their skills set. After weeks of grinding and sawing, they attempted to put in an aluminium frame with windows and a door. The workmanship was an absolute disaster and I was supposed to accept it. Nothing was straight, there were gaps and holes everywhere and the lack of actual skill was obvious for all to see. When I pointed this out to Chris’s partner, also Chris, he turned it on me! I was just supposed to suck up his terrible work. What’s more, I had already paid over R100 000 for shoddy workmanship and yet he was upset because it was obvious that I needed to call in a skilled contractor to take over. Chris told me I was going to make a profit on the job! The only profit made was by Chris and his sub-contractor. Chris from North Projects also removed all the aluminum that I had paid for and again, took things from my house that did not belong to them. I had to ask for them to be returned, but Chris was so intent on taking what he could from my job, that he again left his workers unsupervised to pack things into his truck that were not his possessions. We ultimately called in a professional to fix the mess and he was appalled at the job that had been done by the original team. Chris had agreed that they would bow out and we could call in an external aluminum specialist and also offered to help to get quotes. What transpired was one ****, illiterate quote that was clearly typed by somebody that could neither spell nor write. The builders are now offsite and the aluminium specialists fixed up the mess that Chris made, but the actual job is horrific. The roof leaks and the lack of experience and planning is clear in all the snags left by North Projects. At no stage did Chris from CPT builders take any responsibility for his outsource partner or even try and apologize. His attitude and his company ethics are a disgrace. It goes without saying that the renovation/build was a huge disappointment and will need to be redone. I would suggest you run as far as possible from this company.
