INSIST ON A NOTICE CLAUSE IN YOUR LEASE

Be aware that the landlord doesn't include a clause in the lease allowing for either party to give a month's notice. Our daughter wanted to leave with five months to go (for various reasons) and gave a month's notice, but the landlord considered her to be tied in for a year. and demanded the remaining rent. We had to rely on the Consumer Protection Act to reach a compromise. Our advice is to insist on a clause allowing you to give notice before you sign the lease.
