‘Please smile more ma’am, you’re off-putting’

I was perusing the sale that Cotton On was having in their Stellenbosch Branch On 27/12/2017 when a sales person approached me and asked me if I was angry. I responded that I was not. She then proceeded to tell me about their sales for the day and ended off her sales pitch by saying ‘You should smile more, you’re quite off-putting’.

I immediately put my items down and left the store. Firstly, how did you think that comment was going to go? Did you think I would just plaster a fat smile on my face and purchase a ton of items in your store?

Secondly, how do you even consider it, your place, to comment on a clients appearance or demeanor? I will not shop at this branch again if this is the level of client care provided.
