Terrible bedside manner from Dr. Johan Botha

I have known Dr. Botha since I was around 10 or 11 years old and, growing up, he was the local doctor I trusted. Unfortunately, my recent experience with him was extremely disappointing.

I barely got the opportunity to explain myself before being interrupted and told to sit on the examination bed. Throughout the consultation, I felt rushed and dismissed. He did not take the time to properly understand my concerns or allow me to finish explaining what I had been experiencing.

At one point, he also made a smug comment implying that I was simply there looking for a doctor's note for work. I found this extremely disrespectful, especially when I was genuinely feeling unwell and seeking medical advice.

I actually had a negative experience with him about two years ago but chose to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was having a bad day. Unfortunately, after this experience, I can no longer say that.

The doctor I remember from my childhood was attentive, kind and reassuring. That is not the experience I had this time. I left feeling dismissed, uncomfortable and with more questions than answers.

If you are looking for a doctor who will genuinely listen to you and make you feel comfortable discussing your health concerns, I would recommend seeing someone else.
