For a company proclaiming 50 years experience in the garage door industry, my experience has been dismally disappointing. No customer service, no accountability and an attitude that Coroma will win at all costs. I had 4 garage doors installed in a new home, the doors were installed by Coroma installers (with no supervision) to the suspended plastered ceiling and not to the concrete beams above the ceiling. The suspended ceiling was never designed to bear the weight of heavy wooden doors and for a company with 50 years experience they should have known this fact. When I contacted the company to indicate that the new ceiling was cracking, the owner of the business came to my property, saw what was happening to the ceiling and sent his team the following day with 2 x building props to hold up the ceiling in case it fell on our cars. These props were in place for 9 months whilst I endeavoured to get Coroma to rectify their mistake. At all times the owner blamed my infrastructure which was never in question even told me to claim from my insurance policy which did not cover poor workmanship. Never once did they revisit the property, send their own insurance assessor, factory manager or anyone else to assess the problem or make any effort to make good their faulty installation and even forbade the staff in the office to speak to me on the telephone.
I reported this matter to The Consumer Council who achieved no success with Coroma and eventually closed their case as I had paid another company to repair the installation and remove the building props. The case no is 201 ********** 911.
After 18 months of endeavouring to get Coroma to remedy this installation and honour their guarantee I sought advice from several 3rd party garage door manufacturers all of whom warned of the seriousness and the likelihood of the Coroma doors actually pulling the ceiling down onto myself, the vehicles parked in the garage, pets and other occupants of the property which could result in death or serious injury. On their recommendation and as I could not leave myself in jeopardy any longer, I had the doors attached correctly to the concrete slab above the suspended ceiling by Door King. The concrete slab was just 10cm above the suspended ceiling. Coroma had simply attached the doors to the aluminium frame designed only to hold the suspended ceiling, the weight of the doors had pulled almost all the plugs out of the concrete. Photos attached. 75% of the ceiling had to be removed as it was completely sagging and about to fall - the only thing keeping it in place was the 2 building props sent to the property by Coroma and installed under the ceiling 18 months ago. 75% of the aluminium frame had to be re-attached into the slab as the weight of the 4 heavy doors attached to the plastered ceiling boards had pulled the fischer plugs right out of the concrete. New ceiling boards were installed and then plastered, primed and painted. I had to re-employ the electrician to re-install the 4 x fluorescent light fittings and 4 x electrical plugs to the newly plastered ceiling so that the doors can operate again.
