Review Title: Unprofessional handling of rental deposit – no transparency

I had a very disappointing experience dealing with Cornerstone Properties regarding the return of my rental deposit.

After vacating the property, my deposit has still not been returned after approximately three months. Despite multiple requests, I have not been provided with an itemised breakdown of the deductions. I was only given a lump sum figure, with no supporting invoices or quotations.

I was also not given the opportunity to inspect, dispute, or obtain my own quotations for any alleged damages, which is standard practice in rental matters.

There have also been conflicting statements regarding who is holding the deposit, which has added to the confusion and lack of accountability.

Communication has been extremely poor. Emails have gone unanswered, and when I did receive a response, it was unhelpful and dismissive.

As a tenant, I expected a fair, transparent, and professional process. Unfortunately, this was not my experience.

I have now had to escalate the matter to the Rental Housing Tribunal.

I would strongly advise others to ensure that all processes and documentation are handled very carefully when dealing with this agency.
