Giving East London Estates a bad name

My husband and I have just recently purchased a property at Coral Beach Estate in East London and the whole process has been a nightmare since the day that we moved in.

The properties on this estate look really beautiful from the outside and are located at possibly one of the beautiful locations in East London, but wait until you buy one and have to live here and experience the horrible service provided by the developers and the contractors building the houses. My first complaint is about the finishing of the house. The house that we moved into was dirty, it had paint drippings all over the house and on the windows (we are still sitting with this problem after a month of complaining). Parts the house were not properly painted or looked like they just had one coat of paint and you could see the cement under the paint and the paint that they use is a cheap quality of paint. The paint however has been the least of our problems. Our toilet downstairs was leaking when we arrived which is the last problem that you want to deal with after you move into a new house. The bathroom shower downstairs was flooding to a point where the water would leak into the passage and into the room next to the bathroom. Our bathroom upstairs sat without tiles on top of the sink for two weeks up until we sent an email to the developers to complain about this. Only to find out that that same sink had a leak that was going into the wall. We only notices this when we started seeing water come out of the wall of our bathroom and a wet wall in our living room right were our TV and DSTV is connected (Upstairs bathroom and living area share a wall). Before we moved in we asked the builders to add an extra room to the house, which they did. This room was very poorly done and every time that it rains water leaks into the room from the balcony upstairs. There are so many more complaints that we have about our house (including the fact that our door to the main entrance is also broken at the bottom) and what is irritating us the most is that we are being disregarded and both the builder and the developers are focused on building new houses and are not attending to the problems that are being experienced by people that they have already sold properties to. We have now resolved to fix the property ourselves at our own cost which is so unfortunate because we believed that we were moving to one of the best Estates in East London. I cannot keep quiet and allow other people to fall into the same trap that we did without knowing what they are buying into.
