Is Cooper Tyres Warrenty worth the paper its written on? Cooper Tyres has for years advertised that their tyres are built for “off road”, remember the adverts of Kingsley Holgate for example, even now they advertise “Cooper tyres are built for enthusiasts, for weekend off-roaders, explorers, comfort class customers, classic connoisseurs and those driven by the open road” and yet when you look past the advertising and glamour presented to the people, the fine print in the T&C which you have to look for on the internet, states that “Off-road” (ref-CooperWarrent.pdf) is excluded and damage caused by under/over inflation according to vehicle manufactures specifications is also excluded. Now this begs the question, what am I covered for, looks like only if I travel on a tar road, with tyres inflated to 1.8Bar, because if I go “off road” the tyres are not under warranty and if we deflate to say 0.8bar pressure to ride sand dunes (which is the golden rule for sand dunes....deflate), the tyres are also not under warranty. Why this may you ask, simple, I purchased 4 new ST Max tyres and went to the dunes (1256km on the tyre), deflated to 0.8Bar pressure and within 100m the tyre came off the rim and the beading was damaged! As with so many other people with different tyre manufactures, the solution was simple, clean the rim and inflate, not a problem, but I could not do that because the beading was damaged!! On questioning the agent later, all I was told was, “sorry, you were under-inflated” Now the question remains....is the Cooper Warranty worth the paper it’s written on, you decide....
