Deposit non-return

I submitted my notice of account cancellation and the form they sent for deposit to be refunded and somehow my usage for 21 May-31 May is (conveniently) an amount over R1000 on an account which is usually about R500 for a 30 or 31 day period and I'm told that the deposit amount will be used to settle this.
