Conqueror Commander

<p>We purchased a new Conqueror Commander middle March. Since then we had numerous problems with the caravan of which the last incident was the worst.</p> <p> When I first entered the caravan the day we received it, I noticed that the carpets look like it has been walked on a lot. It was full of fluff. And the pillows’/matrasses’ covers are hooked all over. This was never replaced.</p> <p> Within the first week we had the caravan, we went on a Voortrekker camp. It rained and then we discovered the roof of the tent is leaking. That was replaced. There were also no poles for the side of the tent on the kitchen side.</p> <p> Beginning May we went to a farm where we needed to use the deep cycle batteries. The one was faulty and didn’t want to work at all. That was replaced.</p> <p> We went on out first real vacation with the caravan on 13 June 2016, 3 months after we received it. On our way to Oudtshoorn, down the pass just before Calitzdorp, I heard a sudden hard noise. When I looked in my mirror, I saw the caravan’s wheel coming past me on my right hand side, down the cliffs. The caravan hanged over to the right hand side on one wheel. Luckily the bakkie was heavy enough to pull the caravan back preventing it from falling over completely. Luckily there were also no traffic so nobody was hit with the wheel. Luckily it happened on the mountain’s side of the road otherwise it could have gone very different.</p> <p>The caravan fell back to the left hand side and slide about 4 meters on the tar while I tried to safely bring the bakkie to a standstill. Luckily I drove only 50km/hour and I didn’t step on the brake the whole time (stepped on the brake and let go so that the caravan cannot push the bakkie and the brakes don’t lock), otherwise things could have gone terribly wrong.</p> <p>It happened on the most uncomfortable turn, pass down with no cell phone reception. All 6 the bolts broke off completely and the wheel shot out to the back of the caravan. It rolled a few meters in the oncoming lane and then down the cliff. A major part of the caravan at the back was badly damaged. It took me an hour to get the temporary wheel on and back on the road. My wife and 2 kids had to stand on the road side. Luckily there was not much traffic, but it was very dangerous. Try to keep two children out of the road with nothing to keep them busy, while you are trying to repair a wheel. Luckily we were in God’s safe hands and we could reach our destination safely.</p> <p> I phoned Safari Centre as soon as we got reception and explain to Horst what happened. It took till the next week Thursday for them to organise someone to replace the stub axle. Our hole holliday we were waiting for some one to fix the broken stub axle .</p> <p> On Monday the 27th of June I took the Conqueror Commander back to safari centre so that they can inspect the broken parts. I told them I do not what his Conqueror Commander back because it disappoint me.</p> <p> Up to date there is no conclusion.</p> <p>I told Horst of Safari Centre that I am very disappointed and I want my money back. I don’t have a caravan, but I must pay every month the bank interest and I must pay the insurance. This is an off road caravan and I have not had the opportunity to took it off road. The wheel broke off on a very good tar road. The caravan have a 150 litre water tank, but it was empty. There are space at the back of the caravan for 2 jerry cans, but I did not put anything in the holders. This is my fourth caravan and I been towing caravans from 2008. So far it is my worst experience in after sales service for caravan. </p>
