Connect Financial Solutions will give you a bad credit record
I took a lounge suite on credit from Rochester mid last year with my debit order date set to go off on the last day of every month and I have never missed a payment!, in February 2021 I received numerous phone calls from Connect Financial Solutions (the credit provider for Rochester) advising that I am in arrears for R2.29 for January and this is because the 31/01/21 fell on a Sunday and they are unable to debit on a Sunday so because they only debited on the 1st I was charged a fee/penalty and it is for that penalty fee that I am in arrears and the same would apply for February because the 28th fell on a Sunday too. Firstly that didn't sit well with me because it's not my fault nor my problem that they do not debit on a Sunday, there are many other financial providers that don't debit on a Sunday but never is the customer penalised or compromised for that matter. To avoid being charged another penalty at the end of Feb I made an EFT to Connect Financial Solutions in the amount of R50 (way above the R2 I owed) on the 18/02/21 - a few weeks after that I check my credit score (which needs to be intact for my son's grade 1 application) and I realized that my score has dropped by 24 points because it shows that I am in arrears for this account and didn't make payment for Feb when in fact this time around they did not wait for the 28th of Feb to process the debit, the debit order went off early! Today I receive an SMS stating that it is a confirmation of a discussion that I agreed to pay R1424.63 (not even my monthly instalment) on the 28/02/21 as payment for my Rochester account - I have no idea what this is for and clearly according to someone at Connect Financial Solutions I have not paid my February instalment (hence it is being reflected as such on my credit record) yet my monthly statements show that I am up to date (including February!) - this is very disappointing to say the least especially because it is portraying me as a bad payer with the credit bureaux and affecting my record/profile. Never will I purchase from Rochester again! whether on credit or cash! What annoys me more is that every time the consultants call they say "remember to always keep your account up to day to maintain a good credit record" how the hell do I do that if I make sure the amount to be debited is always available and on time too but because of their late debits my credit record is affected in any case!!! They speak to me like they are calling a bad payer who is in arrears with thousands of rands. I want this arrears record removed from my credit profile with immediate effect! Not only on your systems but directly with the credit bureaux too! Before I take this further because it is not at all in line with the principles of TCF!
