Never pay prior to completion

MIke did my floors but the mixture for the bathroom wasn't right so the colour was inconsistent. He didn't seal the bathroom as a result and it's now months later and he hasn't returned to fix the bathroom and finish work, despite being paid in full. Learn from me and never pay a contractor in full before the job is complete, even when they refuse to finish off unless you've paid in full. It's a trap. And now I'm stuck with an ugly bathroom floor that isn't sealed and no other contractor will touch it. My only recourse is to completely redo the floors throughout, which I'm going to have to do. This was a very expensive life lesson.
