They don't want you to cash in your demutualisation shares
Yesterday my husband phoned Computershare to cash in his dematerialised Sanlam shares. He had been re-FICA'ed so that was in order. The frontline call centre made him go through account number confirmation and complete security screening , then passed him on to the dealing desk where he had to go through the whole process AGAIN. He was then passed on to another department where he was repeatedly asked, "Are you sure you want to sell?" and forced to give his details again. Computershare must be sitting will zillions of Sanlam demutualisation hares where the owners of these shares have simply given up trying to cash them in. If you think this review is bad, Computershare, wait until you see what will happen when you don't pay my husband out.
Our processes aim to protect shareholders and, in the interests of ensuring the security of their assets, we do take great pains to establish identity. Our Call Centre agent did advise your husband that, when he was put through to the Dealing Desk, he would have to go through a further security check without your assistance in answering the questions.
The trade was placed on Friday, 1 December 2017 and settled today. The proceeds of the sale will be deposited into your husband's account and, depending on your bank, will be available shortly.
Kind regards
Computershare
