Shoddy work done by Complex Maintenace owned by Warren Perreira in Table View Cape Town

My unit in our complex incurred water damages from the unit above. The ceiling in the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen was damaged as well as the bedroom carpet destroyed completely.

Complex Maintenance owned by Warren submitted a quotation to the Managing Agent for repairs. The work done was absolutely not up to standard. I submitted photos about the difference in the work done by others before and done by Warren from Complex Maintenance. The paint work done before was seamless and rounded of perfectly. Warren could not round off the corners between the walls and celings properly. The paint is bubbly and uneven and he argues despite the pictures and physical evidence that his work is perfect regardless of the evidence that the work is not perfect or of acceptable standard and he states that cannot do better than what he did. Easy job and easy money without worrying how the work is done, We can do what we want.

He charged a huge amount for the work but he could not deliver work for what he charged. The paint on the ceiling in the kitchen was not completed in all the areas. The areas against the cuboard is only up to before the kitchen cuboards, he also did not want to do the difficult work in the corner side of the kitchen over the kitchen basin and when he did some of the work he delivered work that is patchy at the edges and absolutely unprofessional. He asked for pictures when I said the work is not up to standard and in the pictures it clearly shows how bubbly and rough the paint is where the corners joined the wall and the work done before by other painters were seamlessly joined. It looks like the work was done by an amateur. He wanted his money stating the this was the best he can do he has been painting stating that he could have charged overtime rates for having to come back and fix his work, really? My cousin painted her whole property about ten times the size of my 43 square meters for about R4000 beautifully done and rounded off. I had to pay R3950 for a small kithchen and even smaller bathroom ceiling and a very small section of paint on the bedroom ceiling, this for shoddy and uncompleted work.

Extremely fascinating that somebody can deliver work like this, you call them out to come and fix it and it looks even worse afterwards and you paid for this. Fascinating that people can get away with work like this and then make you out to be the culprit. Blaming you having to come and fix their mess and the time they have to spend to fix what they did.

I am now going to have to fix this work myself.

Please make sure that you rather use somebody else than a person the Managing Agent have deals with. You are not obliged to use the person designated by your Managing Agent even when it is an insurance payout. Be careful who you use and don't trust anybody rather do your own homework and find somebody that will deliver the work paid for instead of trying to blame you for being ungrateful after receiving such a huge amount for work not done well and not taking responsibilty for the shoddy work done regardless of the pictures and physical proof.
