The worst claim Experience: Commrisk
My wife and I insured our house contents last year since we accumulated/purchased items. We planned to extend our 3 bedroom home and decided to buy items such as gas stoves, sinks, taps, extractors etc. Unfortunately we were ****** and our house was almost emptied. Fortunately we had taken insurance. We submitted a claim and the matter was investigated. The assessor submitted a report and made us sign a CIL stating a settlement of 173000.00
The payout dragged and at some point, we were told the policy was cancelled. We were later told the issue with the policy was resolved and the claim reopened.
Today, to our shock, we received smses informing us that a shopping voucher of 171000.00 was being couriered.
After being ******, they expect me to walk around with an unsecure card loaded with R171000.00. After all the trauma, they firmly believe I can carry around thousands of rands in a card in my pocket. How so cold and careless. To say I am angry is an understatement. I thought insurance companies deal with cases on merit and look at circumstances and carefully decide on the best way to help their customer. I guess I was wrong.
