Coleman Properties and Landlord Reluctance to Repairs

<p>We are residing at No 2 Highgrove Estate in Alberante for the past thirteen years already. We are renting with a Lady by the name of Erica Leukemans through Coleman properties. We started experiencing water leakage from the Unit above us which was coming through our kitchen wall and rotted all the kitchen cupboards. This already started happening in December '2016. We removed all our food and</p> <p>kitchen equipment knowing that in December everybody is closed and nobody is going to do anything about it. We then reported the leakage on the 3 January 2017 to our Landlord Erica, she then contacted Coleman Properties, after waiting a month and numerous phone calls we were told that the Insurance of the complex will be repairing it. We then started removing the kitchen cupboards ourselves, Kitchen and Cupboard was sent to do a quote and they just wanted to patch the kitchen and put rotten doors back on, We then contributed R2500 towards repairing the kitchen. We then waited and discovered that there was a leak coming from our bathroom side as well, We reported to our Landlord Erica and she then said she would send a plumber, We waited another month and contacted her again. She was always beating around the bush. The plumber then diagnosed that the bath has to be removed and the leak repaired. After threatening the Landlord they eventually came out to remove the bath. We are now at the 5 th of March '2017 and the bath is halfway done. As for the kitchen we are still waiting for the insurance plumber to come and repair the wall in order for the cupboards to be put back. For the past two months we have been using the lounge as a kitchen. We have to live on take-aways and are living under horrible circumstances. We are so sick and tired of our Landlord and Coleman Properties it is unbelievable that any human being can live like this and paying your rent at the same time. I would also like to mention that the state of the Highgrove complex is apalling. Damping is coming through all of the walls, the swimming pool has been broken for a year already, the paint is peeling off the building, they just dont repair anything, We just expect them to come to the party and minimize inconvenience, How can any tenat go through these circumstances.</p> <p>Thankyou</p> <p>Kind Regards</p> <p>Paul van Huyssteen</p> <p> </p>
