DISSATISFIED WITH SERVICE AT COFFEE SHOP @ SPAR SEDGEFIELD

We regularly visit the Coffee Shop at Hartenbos Spar where we receive excellent service and the food is excellent (generous portions and very tasty). Our second visit to Coffee Shop at Spar in Sedgefield ended in a huge disappointment. We ordered and after 45min enquired as to where our food was. It was not very busy and we noticed other tables being seated after us and yet receiving their food before us. At one point I went to the kitchen area and asked how long our food was going to be since we have already finished our drinks and yet no food. I was told that they are in the process of making our food and should be ready within in minutes. Another 15 minutes went by without food. My husband checked a third time, just to find the kitchen staff talking with our food standing there but not being attended to. At that point the kitchen lady shoved some salad onto the plate with her bear hands. According to Food Regulation R638 food handlers can't touch ready-to-eat, non-prepacked foods with their bare hands unless it's unavoidable for preparation purposes. At this point we decided to leave and was refunded for the food we did not eat/receive. As a final attempt the supervisor/manager said that it was not a requirement for them to wear gloves in the kitchen. I am sorry to say, that at the time I did not have the regulation at hand, but she was clearly mistaken. All round, a very disappointing experience.
