Coenie, based in Centurion, requested a 75% deposit from me. I asked him to tear down my existing lapa and rebuild it according to correct legal requirements. He told me the job would take 2 weeks, we are now on month 6. All I have is an unsound shell of a lapa that shows terrible workmanship. He stopped working on it once it came time to buy materials for the job that I have already paid him for (Harvey tiles, floor tiles and canvas). Up until the point he stopped the work, only existing materials had been used. He then had a book of excuses as to why he couldn't come and finish the job. In the interim, the Facebook group that he advertises his services on, additional individuals, mostly women, have come forward with the same complaint. Coenie has undertaken to repay me numerous times, but failed to do so. I will be opening a case of ***** as the funds paid exceed the small claims court value. He is also not responding to calls from my lawyer who has taken on this case.
