Bad quality taps

Recently we replaced all the taps in our home, and opted for Cobra, as it is a company with a seemingly good reputation. After just a week or two, we noticed a strange metallic taste in the water. Upon inspection of the new taps, we saw that the chrome / nickel coating, came off completely and the reddish inside is visible. Not very good quality if it comes off so quickly. We purchased one tap at Builders warehouse in Centurion, and the rest at Plumb it and plumb link in Centurion. plus minus R2000 and this is the quality we get? Now what do we do, as it can clearly not be healthy. The old taps did not do that at all, and also did not have the metalic taste.
