Laptop turned from shop and needs repairs

I purchased a laptop last year which is giving problems, screen goes blank at times. We took the laptop to the shop as the screen went blank and when we got there the screen switched on. The sales assistant was however informed that there is definitely something wrong with the laptop. The laptop was therefore not taken. Similar problem has occured and when we took it to the shop we were informed they no longer take them for repairs. We were given a number we should contact, but there is not one picking up. I am now sitting with a broken laptop which needs urgent repairs because it is used for school work but dont know what to do.
