Incorrect Diagnosis
I took my car to Volvo Cape Town so they can let me know why my car is not starting - me obviously not a mechanic, but having some logic tested to see if my battery is working and thereby eliminated a faulty battery as the cause of the problem.

Alan Wyngaard (Service Advisor) phoned me back the next day informing me that they have come to the conclusion - I need to replace my battery. And that would be about R4,200.

I refused to accept the diagnosis as I have tested the battery myself and it worked (it now being depleted due to the removals and testing etc), however the battery was not the route cause.

I have fully explained the events leading up to me bringing the car to Volvo - all which indicate the battery is not he problem.

It turns out that the battery could just be charged again, and that the actual reason for my engine not starting was that the cambelt snapped.
I took me going to Volvo again, walking into the workshop and having to explain everything to the workshop foreman in order for him to agree that its not the battery and they will take another look (whereafter they then found the cambelt issue)

I would have paid 4,200 for nothing. Not good at all.
