Never Buy a Range Rover

<p>I blew a tyre on my Range Rover and put on the spare tyre by unwinding the spare tyre "winch" in the trunk and dropping the spare to the road. When I had changed the tyre I put the spare in my trunk, wound up the winch and took my tyre to a Tiger Wheel and Tyre who replaced my damaged wheel but couldnt replace my spare under my car via the winch. When I took my car back to Land Rover Cape Town they told me that the "winch wires" that hold the spare tyres in place break if you wind them up without the weight of the spare tyre attached to it and to replace them would be R 3000. I am still in motor plan but this isn't covered as it is trim. </p> <p> </p> <p>The summary is that in my Range Rover that I mistakenly thought was a tough offroad 4x4 has a wire that breaks when doing the common sense practise of carrying my spare tyre in the boot to the garage . It is ridiculous that there are no large warnings about this. I then found it in Range Rover forums talking about the design failure.
