Unsatisfactory and shoddy workmanship
My sister booked her Fiesta 14 with registration BD 56 JS GP for service with CMH Kempster Ford Pretoria and service was done on the car as the car had issues with timing. We re requested to change the throttle body and control modules during this time but as these components did not affect the timing of the car they were not changed.
The car was subsequently returned and it was driven for about 500 km mainly from the dealership and for short distances.
On the 27 June I decided to use the car for a trip to Johannesburg for an interview but on my way there the car broke down with the same issues it had as when we took it in for repairs.
It seems the dealership did not check the valves on the cylinder head the first time the car was sent for repairs as it seems the issue is bent valves which causes the car to be out of timing . This was supposed to be checked initially but it seems that was not done.
The dealership now wants to quote us the same amount to replace the same parts again and only now do they want to take the cylinder head to engineering to fix the valves which should have been done before to prevent the same damage been done to the engine.
This is unacceptable business practice to expect a client o pay for the incompetence of the dealership as this critical step should have been done by the dealership.
My request is that the dealership needs to fix the car as the car only traveled about 500 km since the last repair. Does the dealership not have any warranty on the repairs that they make? To expect a client to pay about R12 000 twice in a matter of 3 weeks for repairs that lasted less than 600 km is outrageous.
Your assistance in resolving this matter will be greatly appreciated as surely this cannot be the correct approach.
