Damaged Engine

My Honda Accord has 100 150Km's and yesterday the Engine seems to have blown. I received a quote from Honda to fix everything for R 61 000. it has a full service history. how can a Diesel Engine with only 100 000 km/s on the clock have this much damage , and it was rated the most reliable car at some point. Very disappointed in Honda , and if they don't take some sort of responsibility i will never buy a Honda again.
