CMC Auto panel - STAY AWAY!!!!
On 12 November 2019 I contacted my broker to inform them of the repairs needed on my car. At that point, I also provided a quote that I got from a panel beater which included an estimated time to completion of +-6 working days. Frontline has their list of suppliers, and being a known insurance company, I expected them to make use of quality suppliers and so I did not query this. On 20 November 2019 I was informed that the assessor approved the claim and the work to be done by CMC auto panel with an estimated time of completion of 8 days (which I assume was obtained from CMC auto panel or considered standard for the type of repairs. On 3 December at 08:30 I delivered my car at CMC auto panel and a rental car was delivered to me to be used until 10 December as that was the date the assessor indicated my car will be ready (i.e 8 days). By 9 December I have not heard anything from CMC and as I had to hand back my rental car the next day, I phoned Bradley van den Heever to find out whether my car will be ready the next day. All other companies that I have dealt with keeps the client informed about progress, but nevertheless. The only call I got during this time, was from Tiger Wheel and Tyre wanting to replace my tyres (which I have taken to another company in Durbanville on the 17th of December and according to them, and my own opinion, the tyres were still fine for another few 1000km's). I am not aware that I have given CMC auto panel consent to provide my personal details to third parties
When I phoned Bradley on 9 December, he then told me the car will only be ready on 20 December. If I knew this upfront, I would definitely not have chosen CMC. Following a lot of back and forth emails and calls, they agreed to provide me with a rental car to travel with during the holidays.
On 17 December I got a call from CMC, they are now “trying” (Bradley’s words) to have my car ready that day still. At that point in time I really didn't have any expectations from this CMC. At 15:00 I decided to give them a call as I have not yet heard back from them and was planning on leaving for my holiday early the next morning at 07:00. Bradley told me the car was ready and acted surprised that I didn’t know that because he told me the morning they are “trying” to have it ready (they were also supposed to have the car ready by 10 December which was not the case). My one tyre was changed (which I approved) but when I got home, only 4 out of the 5 nuts were secured with the remaining one being left in my car's boot for whatever reason. On 20 December I got a call from a lady at CMC asking me a) about the quality of the work and b) customer service that we received. I said that to date, I can’t complain about the quality of the work that was performed but the customer service was absolutely terrible and we are not happy about it. Her response was: “I am sorry to hear that, goodbye”. To me, this was the final indication that CMC auto panel is so certain about insurance companies sending them work and never challenging their service, that they are arrogant, unprofessional and couldn't care any less about the service that they deliver to their customers.
