Extremely disappointed

Extremely Disappointed with Clothing Junction – Westgate Mall

I am extremely disappointed and upset by the experience I had at Clothing Junction at Westgate Mall.

I asked one of the staff members to keep three items aside for me until I got paid. She assured me that she would keep them for me. She did mention that they would be doing stocktake and said she would count the items in, but she specifically promised that she would still keep them aside until I came to collect and pay.

I arrived today, excited to finally pay for and collect the items, only to be told that Head Office had instructed them to put the items back on the shelves. Fortunately, I managed to find two of the three items on the floor, but the one item that was most important to me had already been sold. What makes this even more upsetting is that it was the last item available on the very day I asked the staff member to keep it aside.

What hurts the most is that I am a regular customer and I trusted the staff member's word. When a customer is given a promise that an item will be kept aside, I believe that promise should be honoured. If Head Office questioned the arrangement, the staff member could and should have explained that this was a regular customer and that she had already made a commitment to keep the items aside.

I was also disappointed that no effort was made to assist me further. She did not even offer to phone other Clothing Junction branches to see if the item was available elsewhere. Given the circumstances, I feel that this would have been the least that could have been done.

This may seem like a small matter to some people, but it was important to me. I had looked forward to getting these items, and I left feeling extremely disappointed and emotionally upset.

I sincerely hope Clothing Junction takes this matter seriously and addresses it appropriately. Customer service is not only about making a sale—it is also about keeping promises, building trust and making customers feel valued, especially regular customers.
