Fuming client
On the 25th May, I took my daughter to my GP. She fractured her left wrist and he immediately referred her to hospital for further treatment. I took her to Dr SK Matseke Memorial. We arrived 13h40 at casualty. I went in, gave the clerk the letter from my GP. She read it, then sent me to the orthopedic room. She just gave me a note, which she wrote four doctor's names on and said I must tell reception, I'm here to see any one of the four doctors. When I arrived at Nembula house, reception directed me to the 1st floor, room 23. When I got to the room, the door was closed. I knocked, there was a gentleman standing with the receptionist just looking at us. I the went in, greeted and sat down because the receptionist was busy on the telephone. the gentleman, whom I assume was the doctor, went to his office at the back and sat at his desk, his door was open. The lady finished on her phone and the proceeded working on her laptop. She didn't greet us, hell - she didn't even acknowledge our presence. After about 10 minutes or so, the gentleman spoke to the lady in vernacular and that's where she called me to her desk. She just looked at me, I said well the lady at casualty said I need to come to this room. She said but why didn't she phone me? I said well she tried but she couldn't get through to you because your phone was engaged. She said ya but she does have my cellphone number. The gentleman answered and asked the lady do I have an appointment (not once did he address me directly) she asked me, I said no I don't, well unfortunately you have to make an appointment before the doctor can see you. I said well i don't have an appointment because my doctor referred me to casualty and casualty sent me here. Doctor answers again, since when do they sent people here without appointments? She then asked me if she can make an appointment for me, I said well don't you wanna have a look at the x-rays first, she said no, I them said well it's fine you can make the appointment for me, she then took my details and made an appointment for the following day at 11h00. I then took my child and left. I then went to Garden City Hospital, where my daughter was immediately attended to. In less than 2 hrs we were home. My 8 yr old baby had a cast on her arm with no appointment needed. I've never felt so less of a human being and that in front of my two children. On the 9th March 2020, my 13yr old son fractured his right wrist, I took him to Dr SK Memorial and he was immediately attended to in casualty, so I was really surprised with the treatment I received yesterday with my daughter. Exact same injuries but total different treatment/outcome. I felt let down, angry and disappointed. Like we didn't matter. Like we didn't belong there, we were basically treated like trash. Worse experience ever from such a "prestigious" facility. Will never set foot there again - fuming client
