Telemarketing

Clientele Life These people are using a machine to do their Telemarketing. It is a total waste of people’s time and an invasion in our lives we don’t need. What I do is press option 1 for them to call me back and when they do, I tell them if they want to waste my time I want to waste their time. (I am on pension so this is not a major issue for me) Today the guy that phoned me became very agitated that I wanted to waste his time. (I was not rude or abusive.) He then started threatening me and telling me that as we all have to RICA our numbers they (Clientele) would block my number. I told him to please block my number so they never phone me again. I also told him to report to his management I don’t like their machine phoning me. He then started talking to a colleague supposedly reading my phone number to him and telling him to block this number. What I would like to know also, does a company have the right to get a number blacklisted purely for wasting their time like they waste our time. If it is so, then all Clienteles numbers should be blocked as well as they waste a lot of people’s time. If this is how Clientele wishes to go about their business I must say it is not very endearing to the public.

They did contact me and apologise and and said the operator should not have threatened me with black listing my number which they assured me they can't do anyway. I also told them The Option to Stop SMS's does not work as the numbers they use can not be rep**** to and secondly why must I pay to send an SMS to Stop a company contacting me when I never asked them to contact me in the first place. There should be a law against companies buying and selling list of contact details for marketing purposes. Maybe the new act http://www.justice.gov.za/legislation/acts/2013-004.pdf will stop this intrusion in some way or another in the future.
