Spam, despite optout

I continually receive spam sms's from Clientele, even after I have texted back "stop" to "optout" as they request. I have tried calling them to get my name removed from their mailing list, but after waiting more than 20 minutes for a switchboard operator to answer, she put me through to "someone in marketing" and there I continued to hold for another 45min with no answer. Marketing like this is intrusive!

A stock standard response, with no personality, just like with every other complaint. If you really do sort out this problem, I will write it as a reply here, but I highly doubt that anything will come of this.

Judit contacted me this morning explaining that they have now taken my details off their database and she will escalate with their marketing department why the optout didn't work in the first place.

Dear mventer

As per our telephonic discussion. It is important to note that all our data is received from external suppliers. This data is sourced through multiple channels, namely, Credit Bureaus, Public Domain Information and Data Acquisitions.

As per your request we have also removed your details from our database. However, other companies who receive their information through the same channels may have your details and you could still be contacted for other promotional campaigns. Therefore, to prevent same from happening in future, please ensure that your information is listed on the 'Do Not Contact' list.

It is important to note that all our suppliers must adhere to national legislation and their data is checked against the national 'Do Not Contact' list hosted by the DMA. More information on this can be found at www.dmasa.org.

Lastly, we confirm that our first response was an acknowledgement of the concerns raised and upon resolution, of the complaint a final response is posted.

We trust you find this in order, however should you require any further assistance please feel free to contact us again.

Yours sincerely,

Judith Mboweni

Hi Judith I understand that other companies might have / get my information and that they might still contact me. There are select companies from whom I accept marketing, but this is between myself and those organizations and I assume this has nothing to do with Clientele's marketing campaigns or databases. I appreciate that I am now removed from your databases (after an unsuccessful optout attempt) and that I will not receive any further marketing correspondence from you. Thank you

Dear Judith & Clientele I am disappointed and utterly disgusted to note and update this thread that I have now received a third marketing message from Clientele after 1- opting out, 2-trying to contact your marketing department about this (unsuccessfully) 3- reporting this on hellopeter and 4- after you told me my number is not and will no longer be on your database. If this is the blatant disregard you show people who you're trying to market to, and to the promises you make, I would never think of doing business with you. Absolute fail on your part.
