Hospital file is private

I was admitted for 20 days due to renal failure in May 2017. I submitted a claim with clientele and they requested a whole bunch of documents inclueding my "private personal hospital file" which has my medical history. My question (which has still not being answered) what do they need it for? They have the hospital statement, tests results from radiology, etc. Payment from medical aid. What do they want with my file from the hospital??? What happened to Doctor/patient confidentiality?
