Clientele Is Deducting Money For A Policy I Didn’t Sign Up For

Hello Peter,

About a month ago (4th of June to be exact) I was approached by a Clientele representative outside the mall just after exiting. He asked for a bit of my time which I agreed to, to hear him out and spoke about a policy, he briefly explained it to me as well as taking some of my information. He said I would receive an SMS with a link provided which will explain the policy in more depth and should I be interested I can sign up for the policy from there. I did not receive such SMS and needless to say I was shocked when a debit order from Clientele went off on 22nd of July deducting R245. I went to Capitec the next morning to try and reverse the payment and was told that I couldn’t because I had “authorized” the payment and I would have to contact Clientele directly.

I called Clientele immediately after leaving the bank and spoke to one of their agents who helped me logged a complaint and cancel the policy, he told me I would receive a call after an investigation had been conducted and if my claim was valid I would receive a refund (Ref No: CER598316), a call which I did receive the same day and the lady explained to me that the guy whom I spoke to outside the mall had **** to me and she would process my refund by Monday (27 July). I had initially withdrawn the rest of funds from my savings account after the first payment went off as I was afraid Clientele would deduct money again but after being assured that the policy had been canceled and I would be refunded my money, I deposited my money back into my savings accounts only for a second payment to go off from clientele again (28 July).

I have since called again and spoken to another agent who was less patient and understanding of my situation leaving me with little hope of retrieving my money back.

Please, I would like for my money to be refunded as I was deceived into signing up for this policy by one of their representatives. I am in dire need of that money, I’m just a student and R490 (The 2XR245 payments that went off) is a lot of money to me.

Please assist
