Clientele

A representative from Clientelle called me saying that she was a representative of Clientele and could offer me a very good investment plan. A very and that all their calls are being recorded. This plan could forsee in all my needs. The plan she suggested was a plan that I could withdraw money at any time which was conveniance to me. I could also reduce or increase my montly payments as I see fit. I could contact Clientele to stop the payment for that spesific month or reduce it.Every month they deducted R500 from my account. Then without my permission they increased my payment to R550. Although my deduction date was for the 1st of every month they tried to take money from my account as from the 15th of every month causing the bank to reject the payment and charging me bank costs for every time my debit order is rejected. I phoned Clientele and wanted to cancel my policy. I told them what the representative told me. They lisened to the recording and advised that unfortunately the representative misinvormed me and they cannot do anything about it. They also advised that me that should I can cancel the policy my investment must stay there for 5 years AND the best of all because of the payments not being received they will take the payments from the money already invested. HOW THE HELL CAN THEY DO THAT??? when I spoke to the advisor in the cancilation department he said that they will deal with this agent which gave me the wrong information and that they are very sorry about this. THEIR SORRY DOES NOT HELP ME AT ALL!! How many others WAS CAUGHT IN THE SAME WAY AS ME??? In other words they will not pay any of my money back at the end of 5 years. WE ARE PENSIONARS AND RR4000 which was the amount that was invested at that time. I may not even live for another 5 yars!! THIS A LOT OF MONEY FOR US!! I was advised to contact the Regulator and the Ombutsman. I never received their phone numbers. I again phoned to get the Regulators as well as the Ombutsmans telephones numbers but the numbers that was sent to me wich does not exist. HOW THE HELL CAN THEY JUST TAKE MONEY FROM ME WITCH DOES NOT BELOÑG TO THEM. Their adversment on tv is also misleading. They promise to pay out moneys within 24 hours ... but what they do not tell the people is that they will only pay the money as soon as they receive all the relevant documentation. How is it possible for them to misleade peoplelike that. You trust them in good faith. IS THIS THE WAY THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY ... FROM *****ING FROM PENSIONERS??? Please do not get sucked into their easy money making scheme!! I presume it is my money that pays for misleading ads on tv.

Dear Mary-Snyman

Your complaint was assigned to the Compliance Department to investigate the conduct of our sales consultant.

As discussed with our Investigator it is important to note that in accordance with Section 54 of the Long Term Insurance Act savings plans have a minimum investment term of 5 years and the Act imposes certain restrictions on these plans within these first 5 years. During the restriction period the policyholder is allowed either one partial or full withdrawal. This will ensure that policy holders get maximum returns on the policies and are not negatively affected by the costs typically associated with early withdrawals.

Our records indicate that the above-mentioned legislation was communicated to you upon a request to withdraw funds from your investment plan on 04 September 2017

Should you not be satisfied with the outcome of our investigation, kindly follow the internal escalation process which was sent to you in the form of an “SMS”, as per your request.

We trust you find this in order, however should you require any further assistance in this regard, please feel free to contact us again.

Yours sincerely,
