Bombarded by Unsolicited Marketing Calls - this company should be reported

I have quite literally been bombarded with about 15 unsolicited calls from Clientele - whom I have no relationship with - attempting to interest me in their products and services. I have the True Caller app installed and am able to identify the spam calls - eventually answered one of them in December in which I made it exceptionally clear to the agent on the line that I have zero interest in their products and do not appreciate such marketing tactics. I was promptly told by said agent that I needed to share my details and 'click a link' to opt out of said calls. I would again for the record indicate that I have never, under any circumstance, opted in to such marketing communications from either Clientele or any third party I have shared my personal mobile number with. Today, I received yet another call from Clientele from a different number. These unsolicited calls amount to an intrusion on both my time and privacy and unrepresent an outdated marketing tactic that needs to be legislated. If I ever have a need for life, funeral or legal insurance products, this company can further take it as given that I will not given this experience consider using them in any way. In the interim, IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF THESE UNSOLICITED CALLS COULD BE STOPPED.

Thank you for this response. I look forward to your confirmation that I have been removed from databases - the notion that I need to follow an unknown third party link to opt out of your spam calls is quite honestly in this day and age of security concerns ridiculous.

I would also like to ask that you respond on this public forum with details of exactly how you acquired my personal details. I have never reached out to Clientele, and the circumstances in which I use my personal mobile number are extremely limited. The approach of making personal information available as a commodity within a purchased database needs to be addressed at source. I would like details please of where my personal information was acquired from

Dear  Gordon L,

Thank you for raising your concerns with us and allowing us the opportunity to resolve them.

As per your request, we have removed your details from our database.  However, other companies who receive their information through the same channels may have your details and you could still be contacted for other promotional campaigns.

Therefore, to prevent the same from happening in the future, please ensure that your information is listed on the 'Do Not Contact' list.  Please note that you can also follow the below steps to Opt-Out:
Step 1: Go to https://clientelemobi.co.za/privacy-options/ and click on the search button.
Step 2: Type in “Opt-Out” and select “Clientele Communication”
Step 3: Follow the prompts to opt-out of receiving marketing content.

It is important to note that all our suppliers must adhere to national legislation and their data is checked against the national 'Do Not Contact' list hosted by the DMA. More information on this can be found at www.dmasa.org

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

We trust you find this in order, however, should you require any further assistance please feel free to contact us again.

Yours sincerely,

Judith, quite frankly, this response is unacceptable. The statement below is particularly problematic:

"However, other companies who receive their information through the same channels may have your details and you could still be contacted for other promotional campaigns"

To be very clear, I have NEVER opted IN to marketing communications or promotional campaigns on any occasion in which my personal number has been given to any company. I am in fact quite specific in each of these limited occasions that I DO NOT CONSENT to be contacted for such purposes.

The fact that you are now suggesting that I must opt out of such communication is ridiculous - including following a Clientele link (which quite frankly given my experience of your company, I do not trust) to 'opt out' of something I never opted in for!

I would like a CLEAR ANSWER please what exactly these channels are which you refer that my information has been obtained from. The contributors to this need to be clearly understood and named and shamed.

Given the sheer number of complaints on this website (81% or 2,443 of total respondents), I struggle to understand how it is anyone would choose to purchase a product from your company. I hope this serves as a warning for future customers.

My personal information is NOT a commodity that can be traded or exchanged without my consent. I trust our legislation will updated in the short term to more closely reflect the global standards emerging in this regard and start introducing consequences for companies like Clientele that completely disregard this

My personal opinions aside, I would appreciate your confirmation of the following:

*. That I have been added to your DO NOT CONTACT list - I repeat that I WILL NOT follow any of your Clientele links to do so when I have never consented to such contact in the first place
* A clear answer please on what these channels are in which my personal information was obtained from and who the service provider is that such information has been purchased from. To date - and from all the complaints on this site - I have yet to see this question clearly answered.

One week later, and I have still not received the details requested of where exactly my personal information was obtained from - these mysterious 'channels' you refer to which your company purposefully appear to evade a public response on. I am again stating that I have never - under any circumstance - opted into such channels. The fact that you guys are getting away with treating personal consumer information as a commodity is shocking and one I hope will be legislatively addressed in the near future
