Agent misled on call and deducted monies without consent

Earlier this week I had an agent call me explaining to me their health insurance options. Firstly, the agent gave me the impression that even usual GP's, and specialists are covered within a daily limit. I asked more than once, as I seemed that this was too good to be true and she confirmed that I will receive a daily limit of R2000. I asked are their any limitations to this? There has to be a limit? and she said my limit is R300 000 per annum. "Wow", I thought I hit the jackpot. How naive of me. I said that I need to think about it - to read through all the documentation as I was skeptical. She asked whether she could take down all my details - so that in the event that I was going to take it - it would just be a matter of a phone call to confirm "yes or no". She did stress the fact that just for her documentation, she'll make the first debit order the 15th January 2018, so that I have 30 days to think about it and they will not deduct any monies without my confirmation of "yes I am taking it, or No I do not want it" - I didn't mind this at the time as I was almost sold on it. Needless to say I read the documents she sent me and what she had communicated to me on the phone was not what was on the contract. Also, the date of birth of my beneficiary's details were incorrect as well.

I then emailed back asap to seek clarity, and indeed someone responded confirming that what was on the contract was correct. I then responded by asking them to take me off the system as I am no longer interested. No response. Shortly after, I received an sms stating that my first debit order will be taken off the 31st December 2017.

I then called - and asked for my name to be taken off the system, however they rectified me by saying " Mam, you are wanting to cancel your policy?" My response was - " I don't have a policy, it cannot have been activated yet as I have not yet confirmed whether I am taking it or not". Anyway, seems as though it was activated. A consultant apologised and cancelled it, and I received my cancellation email yesterday afternoon. She did mention as a disclaimer that in the event that money is deducted it will be refunded in like a month or something.

Needless to say, I woke up this morning to the money being deducted from my account. (15th December 2017). I don't want this policy, I have not confirmed this policy. I have not given permission to deduct this money. I have cancelled this policy. I did not have the funds available in my account for this deduction, so I will incur bank charges AS WELL as a decreased credit rating with my bank.

Please, Clientele Life, sort this out. I want my monies within the next 7 days. I have chosen to share on Hello Peter as emailing directly or calling directly - through this experience does not offer any solutions.

Regards,

JErasmus
