UNTRUE UPDATES ABOUT NOT DELIVERING A PARCEL

On the 17th August,i was advised that the my order (Online Order Number #***) Parcel 1 : OFT1T***3 was apparently lost in a hijacking and I would therefore need to be refunded. I was asked for my details which I provided on the 18th aug. I was advised that refunds take 7-14 working days. Today I have just received an email advising that my parcel was delivered today(24th aug) at 14:20 which is not true, I have not received a parcel and I am awaiting my refund . Please advise on why my delivery status was changed and to a false status for that matter ?
