Terrible, negligent service at Clicks Cornwall View

I took my baby who is now 19 months old to Clicks Cornwall view for his 15 month inoculation including his 1st round of menactra. The nurse was a locum and seemed very unsure of herself. She inoculated my son with menactra and a state combined measles injection. She did not fill in the menactra and filled in the measles injection into the MMR slot on the Immunisation Chart.

My son was sick on and off for 2 months after which I went to Faerie Glen pharmacy to get his next round of inoculations. The nurse there informed me that she could not inject him with anything, since she could not understand the immunisation chart. She also said that MENACTRA should never be injected with anything else and that a state combination should also not be injected with anything else.

I went to clicks and found the head nurse there who apologised and said that they asked this locum to leave since she was ***********. She looked at my chart and told me that I was fine and only needed to come back for 18month injections. She also provided me with a printout of what exactly the other nurse did since it was not documented on the chart. She did not fill in height, head circumference or weight.

I went back to Faerie Glen pharmacy for the 18month inoculation and they informed me that he was many inoculations behind and we would have to combine injections to catch up – I would also have to come back in 4 weeks for another 2 injections and again after another 4 weeks. The nurse had to phone the hotline to ask how and when the medication should be administered, since Clicks made such a monumental mess of it. The nurse confirmed that it is negligent and dangerous to inject state combined injections with menactra. She tried to fill in the correct information on the chart but refused to sign next to it since it was not administered by her. ( I have the immunisation chart, statement from clicks and profile information in my possession as proof.)

When I take my child to a Clicks pharmacy I expect them to uphold a certain amount of competence and professionality. This is not what I received. It has caused my child and my family great inconvenience, money, time off from work and emotional distress. I have for these reasons decided to report Clicks to the relevant authorities, including HelloPeter and the HPCSA.
