Taking this to the media...Final decision for dispensing the wrong medication THIRD TIME
About a month ago my dad was admitted into Dalview hospital after experiencing difficulty in breathing, chest pains and low blood pressure.
Upon arrival my dad was seen by a casualty doctor. His pressure dropped extremely low and because he was a heart patient the call was to transfer him to Milpark and we were told that my dad is a very critical condition.
We them contacted his heart surgeon at Milpark Hospital who then advise the doctor at Dalview to do a CT Scan. After doing this scan it was then confirmed that there is no issue on his heart however they could not confirm why his blood pressure was dropping.
The doctor then stabilized my dad and transferred him to RoseArces. The doctor at RoseArces also could not figure out what was happening. They conducted a lot of blood tests.
My sister who resides in Durban then had to rush up to Johannesburg as we were told that my dad is very bad and night not make it through the night. On the 07th of September I took my sister to visit my dad at the hospital. We then sat with him and traced back to all his activities and he mentioned that he picked medication at Clicks. We then looked at his medication and figured out that one tablet which he was taking a few years now was wrong. At that time we did not know for sure so we spoke with his doctor and he advised that we go to clicks and confirm. I am a nurse for profession and I myself could not figure out what was happening. So because I found the fault and been a nurse does not mean that what I did was wrong. That clicks is now asking me to prove something even the doctors could not explain at that point in time. The only way to prove this is to give my dad the medication again. Which once again this month October Clicks dispensed the wrong medication.
We then contacted clicks and they dispensed the same medication again. We then looked at the medication and found that what his doctor prescribed is not what clicks dispensed.
We contacted clicks and spoke with their Manager Lettie and she advised that they were going to investigate this. We expected them to admit to their mistake and rectify their mistake. However we received a letter stating we did not provide them with proof and enough information and therefore they cannot do anything. They were not sympathetic, they showed no compassion and blunty just closed our case stating they done the right thing.
This month once again when my dad went to fetch his medication they dispensed the wrong medication. My question is if my dad keeps taking this medication which even his specialist confirmed is wrong is he going to survive or die. We watch everything my dad went through in just a couple of hours. We seen his condition and his fight to live. Whereas Clicks is not even rectifying their mistake.
I will like to make this media concern as this is probably been done to a lot of people who is noy even aware. If we did not check his medication we would have not found the fault and it could been worst. We could have lost my father.
Click has been of no good to us. They closed our case stating that my father is 100% mentally stable...what a joke..were they even at the hospital to see what we seen. did they go through all the emotions we went through. We were contacted by Lettie and explained everything in detail, till today she never contacted us however she got her legal Team J Duminy to send us a e-mail stating we cannot prove their medication caused any harm to our dad. Then again she was not their when my dad video called call his children to say goodbye. .... We gave them the doctors report confirming that my dad was overdosed. So because the doctor did not state clicks on his report that does not mean my dad went to a pharmacy and just took the medication from the shelve on his own. The only way to prove what clicks is doing is to give my dad the medication once again. Seeking justice for their wrong actions is somehow the most painfull process ever. But today once again the 3rd time round they dispense the same wrong medication. My question to clicks is SHOULD WE GIVE MY FATHER THE SAME MEDICATION, ARE YOU CONFIRMING FULL RESPONSIBILITY OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO HIM...he has not been taking his medication for a few day now because of CLICKS...he is a heart patient and your system has a trail of his dispensed medication that he has been getting in all these years.
Lettie thank you for NOT being supportive. YOU HAVE LET YOUR GUARD DOWN BY NOT DOING THE RIGHT THING AND THAT IS RECTIFYING YOUR MISTAKE. SO PLEASE ANSWER US TO WHY MY FATHER WAS GIVEN THE WRONG MEDICATION ONCE AGAIN AFTER BRINGING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION. IN ACTUAL FACT YOU ARE SAYING THAT WE SHOULD BE GIVING MY FATHER THIS MEDICATION. HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE IS THIS HAPPENING TOO...
