Rude Service Advisor
This morning I visited my local Clicks store at All Saints Center in Olivedale, which I am a frequent customer of. What was meant to be a quick in and out as I had an online class I was attending at home turned out to be a 30min visit.
I needed to quickly get batteries and an energy drink.I was greeted by a kind lady who was assisting me and after I had made my payment, I realised that the amount I paid for the 2 items was rather exorbitant as the batteries I picked up were priced at R39.99. I raised this with the till assistant and she called for the Service Advisor Tshepiso Dithotse, who was helping another customer and I was understanding of this, however what was to follow when it was my turn was very unpleasant. He arrived and asked what was wrong, without firstly greeting me. The till assistant explained and he looked where I took the batteries and removed the last size of the same batteries I paid for, where he immediately said “I’m not going to override this price because it was probably a customer that incorrectly placed the two sets of batteries there”. This shocked me and upset me because he failed to address me in a respectful manner and felt that his immediate answer should say what he said. I explained that it was not my fault that the batteries were placed in the wrong place and he repeated himself.
I further explained that I should be charged what was priced for the batteries as that the amount that was placed there, if the packer packed the batteries in the wrong place, that was not my fault and I should be charged that amount. He refused and I asked for the manager and he rudely walked away murmuring some words as he walked away. Slita Dikupe came and I explained the situation, she too said she would not override the price, I explained that it was incorrect as that’s the price where the batteries were place, which was not my fault. It was a matter of principle as all the other shops would’ve honoured the shops mistake and given me a refund for the overcharge.
I went on to explain to Slita that the reason for being so adamant was because I was disrespected by Tshepiso and his tone when addressing me was very undermining and he was not keen to explain to me in a manner that a customer should have been explained to. I would have let this go and understood the mistake on the part of the packer however because I was somewhat being forced to pay for someone else’s mistake I would not let this go.
I requested a full refund and I have requested to speak to the store manager who was not in today. I cannot understand how Tshepiso feels that he can speak to me as a customer in the manner that he did. I expect staff to be trained about such mistakes with regards to prices cannot be forced onto the customers. Some training needs to be done on what the CPA says about this kind of things as it seems both were clueless about this.
A full refund what paid as I no longer wanted any of the items because of the rude behaviour from Tshepiso.
I demand an apology as a customer because the manner in which I was addressed in, was totally unacceptable!
