Responsible Pharmacist making ****** remarks and threats

On 25/04/17, at approximately 18h30, my wife and I went to Clicks Centurion Mall to get medication. We were served by the Responsible Pharmacist, Azaria Nkuna (AN). AN asked my wife for her clubcard which she gave to him. He then confirmed her name, she advised him that that was her ****en surname and the surname had been updated by another store. She asked AN why she keeps having the issue of the old surname showing up. AN got aggressive and told my wife it’s not his problem as he didn’t make the change the other store did. He told us he was not willing to update the profile as he is not there to correct other stores mistakes.

When I asked him why he had such a bad attitude towards us, he said that he treats customers that have an attitude with attitude in return. He went on to say “it is always you people that have attitude” – presumably referring to my racial group (Indian). I asked him who the manager of the store was, he told me he is the manager. I told him that I would contact the Pharmacy Council as he is meant to abide by a code of ethics and not treat patients in this manner. I went on to tell him that his role was to dispense medication on the prescription. He told me I could contact the CEO if I wanted to and that the pharmacy is his area and he will deal with things as he sees fit.

AN was screaming at us by this stage. He told my wife that her new profile did not have her medical aid details and he wanted her card. She told him that she would log on to the Discovery App and get her digital card. We waited while the app opened. AN then told us he doesn’t have time for this “bull****”. It was at this stage that my wife and I took the prescription and went to seek the store manager. As we walked away I told AN that I would not let him get away with this and would contact the Pharmacy Council. AN rep**** and said he’ll teach me a lesson when I am not in the store. I went to the customer service clerk who told me the store manager had left. As I was talking to the service clerk, AN went to an aisle to fetch medication for another patient, he stared at me the entire time he was in that aisle. My wife and I feel threatened to go back to the store and the mall.

The medication that we needed may have been critical (thankfully this was not the case).

****** and threats are not what I have come to expect from a brand like Clicks.
