Repulsive service and treatment by staff at Clicks Carletonville
I went to Clicks Carletonville shop number S00393 to make a purchase on Monday 06/11/2023. When I got to the till to pay the speed point could not read my card that is when the cashier asked me to use my banking app to scan & pay, which I did and on my phone the transaction was successful. Now here's where the nightmare started. The cashier told me that on her side the transaction did not go through and she asked me to wait a bit maybe the bank will reverse the money back into my account, 10 minutes later nothing happened.
Since I was in a hurry I asked her what I should do now and she asked if I had another card and I said yes I have another one, she said let's use it and the scan to pay transaction usually takes about 24hours to reverse the money, she called her supervisor who then told me that if the money is not in my bank account the following day I should come back for, with my slip and they will refund the duplicate payment.
Tuesday 07/11/2023 I log into my "Capitec" app and the money is not in the bank, so I go back to Clicks during my lunch hour, I asked for the supervisor that was helping me the previous day, they page her and she never comes out, instead a different one comes, she looks at me and asks what the issue is, I try to explain and immediately I could see she was a bit annoyed, she asked for the slip, the banking app screen shot and my bank card that didn't work the previous day. She took pictures and said to me this bank is always a problem when it's Sassa grant days. She took my number and said they will call me. I asked how long should I wait and with an annoyed tone she said "just wait for our call" I was annoyed at this point by the stinking attitude.
I left and then called Clicks Complaints department and they told me they will investigate and get back to me.
Wednesday 08/11/2023, I get a phone call from Clicks head office, the lady on the other side tells me they did not receive any duplicate payments on their side so I should take it up with my bank. I called Capitec Customer care and they asked me to go back to Clicks to request proof that they did not receive the money that was deducted from my account, now the fun begins....
I get to Clicks during my lunch break, I ask for the manager then the short security woman tells me "the manager is busy at the back" and I'm like she needs to come out because I have a serious issue at hand. 10 minutes later the Cashier that helped me on Mondays comes with the store manager and the rude supervisor from Tuesday shoves a file in my hands and says "read what head office said about your complaint, akere wena you want and called them after leaving our shop" I said I know what head office said, they sent me the same email, she then said "so why are you here, shouldn't you be talking to your bank because we don't have your money. I then said my bank said I should get proof from you that you didn't receive any of my money. She said we don't have any proof, and the manager then said you can take "this email copy from head office and give it to them. She said yoh Capitec is a useless bank, we always have issues with their cards especially on grant days, so next time don't come to our shop with that card on those day, everyone giggled, I was now a joke in the shop while other customers were looking at me.
And by this time I was fed up, I grabbed the piece of paper from her hand and when I turned to leave she made a remark and said "good luck getting the full amount back from that useless bank. I left, went straight to Capitec, the consultant helped me and within 20 minutes my money was back in my bank account.
Issue resolved, or so I thought. Thursday 09/11/2023, I log into my banking app, imagine the horror in my eyes when I find that "Clicks deducted R450.55 from my bank account, the same amount that they said they never received a duplicate payment of. I call their head office and they tell me to send a screen shot of the transaction and" they will investigate " I've paid Clicks Carletonville a total of R901.10 for goods amounting to R450.55, which is double the amount. What must I do to get help from this shop and their rude and condescending employees. Someone please help me.
