Putting patients' health at risk

Clicks Boksburg Medicross, an average rating of 1.8 over 6000+ customers!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a service, this particular branch (it may be all branches, I'm not sure) sends an SMS when a repeat prescription is ready for collection, usually within the first week of the new month. This did not happen, so having taken the last of my medication from the previous script, I went to above mentioned branch were I have been going since it took over from the previous pharmacy.

On arrival, I noticed a ticket system for Collection of scripts, Self-medication or script, I selected collection, because in logical thought, thats what I was there to do, simple. Ah, not at Clicks!!!!!

After not being able to help me because of not having received an SMS, it was decided by the person behind the counter that he would, albeit begrudgingly, I gave him my Clicks Clubcard and he proceeded to start loading my details into the system as if it was a new Clubcard. For context, I have been receiving the same medication from the same branch for over five years, plus any other medication that I have required in the same period, with the same Clubcard. I told the gent behind the counter to stop everything, retrieved my Clubcard and started the process from the begining, this time selecting one from each option and working on the theory that one of the remaining two tickets must be correct, Oh how wrong I was. no amount of governmental bureaucracy can ever surpass that branch, maybe they are where the government trains, I don't know.

After leaving to calm down and returning a short while later, I was faced with the same scenario al******, however, I soldiered on with the chap behind the counter doing everything super slow and, so, I decided no, I can also be difficult, after all, I'm the patient purchasing meds for mental illness, no excuse I know.

After he packed alll the meds and was about to finish off the transaction, I demanded to count all the tablets myself, something I have never done before, just to be difficult, two of the medications were in blister packs, no problem easy to count and re-pack, one medication was supposed to be 60 smallish red tablets which i poured out onto the counter and proceeded to count, not 60, not 59 or less, but 62! most people would say great two for free, those two are a cumulative loss to the business, if that happens with just 50% of every loose packed medication across the group, just think how much of an overall loss this becomes?

Still being difficult, I refused to take the 62 as the script said 60, the chap behind the counter then took the 62 tablets which I had handled with unprotected hands, plus counted on a counter surface which had not been sanitised and put them straight back into the container he had originally got them from. At this point I dont even want to speculate on the the health and hygiene implications, never mind the internal policies or even governmental guidelines which had been so blatantly ignored and or contravened.

The chaps name, Hlayisani Mabunda hsa not only compromised me, but any other customer who orders the same drug due to exposure to and possible contamination after being poured out onto a granite surface and counted per hand by me. With society still reeling in the aftereffects of one of the worst pandemics in recent time, and for general health and safety purposes, it would make sense to destroy those 60+ units and issue contamination free tablets, but no, straight from the same bottle and when I counted the second batch, guess what, not 62, not even 58, but 59!!!!!! By this stage both myself and Hlaysani were short on temper with each other, I took what presented and left.

I just wonder if he fully appreciates the potential danger, which he is putting the next recipient in by not destroying those 62 original units. For him, the branch and the group, I hope nothing does come of it as your legal exposure is exponential.
