Poorly Trained Pharmacy Technicians
I have been in the unfortunate position of having incorrect medication dispensed by the Clicks pharmacy on more than one occasion. I feel that the pharmacy technicians at the Clicks stores are extremely poorly trained and are not under the correct supervision. On three separate occasions I have had a prescription for medication for an infant (on a Paediatrician’s script) and was dispensed medication for an adult. After I arrive home ready to attend to my sick infant I find that the desperately needed medicine is the wrong thing! I then have go back to return the medicine to the store and exchange it for the correct medicine. An inexperienced mother may have been none the wiser and given the dispensed medicine to their baby trusting that the pharmacist knows what they are doing. Most recently I was assisted by a 'very new' technician that took forty minutes to fill a script that had one item on it - a simple Penicillin antibiotic - at first the pharmacist came back with a generic (without having asked me if I was happy to take a generic) but I asked if I could please have the medicine on the script as I am not fami**** with that particular generic and I have had had the incorrect medicine dispensed to me in the past. She told me that they don't have enough stock but she will charge me for all of the medicine and I can just come back and fetch the rest when the stock arrives. I said no thank you (as I don’t live in the area) and that I would just go to a different pharmacy, no problem, I just needed my script back (This was after 20 minutes of waiting for nothing) and then all of a sudden the medicine that I needed was in stock and was being prepared and I was still waiting and didn’t quite know what was happening… When I asked if she would still be long I was met with sarcasm as well as a different pharmacist informing me that I had 'shaken' the previous pharmacist and that I had made her nervous. Now, I am by no means a difficult customer and I am very patient but I like communication. Tell me what is happening! How long are you still going to be! If there is a problem, tell the customer! Don’t ignore me hoping that I will go away – I would have left but I needed my script! I am not sure if I am allowed to name and shame here but I have the names of the people who assisted me (or didn't...)
