Paying an unknown debt

Went to purchase Adco Dol at Clicks Port Alfred on Thursday 15 December. Was told we have an outstanding account with them and in order to make any further purchases with them we must pay outstanding debt first. How? We have no account with Clicks. We've never been notified of an outstanding debt. How did we leave the store without paying? This debt is apparently from 01.08.22 for Adco Dol. So with no other choice, unless we left our purchases behind today, we had to pay an unknown debt for which we have no proof that we made. I still don't understand how we could have managed to leave the store without paying, or managed to buy on "our account" (do Clicks have accounts?) Anyway, this is REALLY NOT RIGHT! Obviously something wrong with your system. And we have to pay for it? A most unprofessional way to treat customers Clicks Port Alfred.
