Kambrook Aspire dual basket air fryer

I purchased a Kambrook 5.2L+3.3L Dual Basket KAM-AF05 Air Fryer from Clicks Online in April last year. The Teflon coating started coming off in heaps and bounds on both the grid, as well as the basket itself until I read of the health risks of using air fryers where this happens. I am not one to easily complain or return items to a store, and thought - let me just try purchase a new basket. I have been searching for a heck of a long time now, without success. I then turned to Clicks who are the agents for Kambrook in South Africa.

I did not demand an exchange or replacement, I asked where I could purchase a new basket for this model. It took Clicks exactly 21 days, after several repeat emails to tell me the following:

"We sincerely apologise for the delay in response and resolution to your query as we have been awaiting feedback from our Merchandising Division who escalates all product related queries to the relevant supplier. Regrettably, we were unable to source any replacement spares/baskets for the Kambrook Aspire Dual Air Fryer as this model has been discontinued by our supplier and is no longer manufactured. As the item is out of guarantee, we are regrettably unable to provide you with a refund or exchange in line with our returns policy.

We sincerely apologise for being unable to provide further assistance to you in this regard"

So now I'm stuck with a fully functional, but completely unusable Air Fryer that is just out of warrantee. I will never purchase anything from the Kambrook range ever again if this is what the aftermarket service and support is like. I am extremely hesitant that I will purchase any appliances from Clicks ever again too.

The mistake I made was that I was not being petty, and quick to complain and demand a refund, while it was still under warrantee. I wonder if Clicks even bothered to check whether they do not perhaps have any returned faulty units of the same model where we could salvage a basket from? Probably not.

My 5c opinion, do not purchase Kambrook products, unless you are willing to replace the appliance as soon as it is out of warrantee.
