My issue was the Clicks at Southdale Johannesburg

When you buy Essence makeup there is a little gift box you get with goodies worth R110 in it You need to meet the requirements of buying 3 Essence items and of the 3, 1 needs to be a foundation to get the gift box. I have no pictures with me (and I don’t understand the relevance of a picture to my query) I just would like to find out what deems as a “Foundation”?

I was actually looking to buy foundation in the first place but that store has absolutely no stock of anything and the only foundation left was a few units of foundation of pale skinned colors only (I am a black woman) so I bought 2 Essence products and picked a concealer because, I also need it and since there was no foundation left, I figured concealer must be a foundation but a different type of foundation and should qualify me for the gift, I spoke to a lady at the makeup section and she said concealer does not qualify as it is not a foundation and she said I would have to buy the Matte Mousse to qualify. Mousse is not a foundation either (plus I did not want to buy the Mousse because I still have some in my makeup bag) if concealer is not considered a foundation (according the makeup staff) the Mouse is no foundation either.

I took the concealer and Mousse to the till with the other 2 items and asked the guy checking out if concealer and mousse are foundations and he agreed and when he rang up the concealer, the other 2 items and the gift box, the checkout was successful the gift box was R0.01 so I was happy because I actually wanted concealer more than the Mousse.

I left the store and carried on about my way just only a short few mins later, two makeup staff ladies and a security staff if I am not mistaken, run out the shop yelling and hollering as if I had ****** something and I was so humiliated. They could have approached me in a more respectful manner but instead they chose to make a spectacle out of a clarity issue that they assumed I was a ******** trying to get away with a gift box without qualifying.

There are a few points here I would like to highlight 1. There is no stock of a whole lot of stuff in that store – Please stock it up 2. The staff personnel is unprofessional and plain out disrespectful (specifically the makeup ladies noted in the query above) 3. Why is the guy at the till so ill-informed of what is being sold at the store or which promos you have – I would have been fired on the spot if my boss caught me telling a customer “I don’t know” – He should have at least found out on my behalf to redeem himself for being clueless but no, I had to walk back to the makeup section to ask if the Gift Box promo was still running because their staff member had no idea what I was talking about. 4. Can your promos be clear on the Ts and Cs where they are visible at the makeup section so we do not have to engage with unpleasant staff members 5. The humiliation was unbearable – please train those ladies on how to handle situations like that more professionally.

Please can you clarify what the requirements are to qualify for the Gift Box or send me a link where I can find those Ts and Cs explain what qualifies you or not.

I am hoping to get an apology for the humiliation from that store as well (from both those ladies at the makeup counter)
