FORMAL COMPLAINT: Coercion, Unprofessional Conduct, and Misuse of Personal Information at Clicks Clinic
I am writing to lodge a serious and urgent formal complaint regarding my experience at a Clicks clinic on 28 April 2026 at Chris Hani Crossing, Vosloorus. The conduct I encountered was not only unprofessional but also deeply concerning in terms of how my personal information was handled.
I visited the clinic to obtain contraceptives. Upon arrival, a nurse collected my personal details, which I reasonably understood to be for administrative purposes. I was then informed that I would need to consult with a doctor. However, no consultation took place and I was never seen by a doctor, no medical advice was provided and no service was rendered to me.
Despite this, I was instructed to proceed to the counter to make payment. At that point, I realised I did not have sufficient funds and chose to leave, particularly because no consultation had occurred and no service had been delivered.
Shortly after leaving, I began receiving calls from an unknown number, I then received a message from the nurse stating the following (paraphrased): that I must “do the right thing” and pay for the consultation, that my prescription had been left at the counter, and most concerningly, that the clinic has my address and camera footage and that I should not “embarrass” myself.
Her message verbatim: please do the right thing pay for your consultation I left your script at counter 2 please pay remember we have your address and your footage on cameras please don't embarrass yourself 🙏
I find this message extremely inappropriate, coercive, and unacceptable. Referencing my personal details and surveillance footage in this manner constitutes an abuse of information and creates an environment of ************. At no point should a patient be made to feel threatened or pressured in this way.
Following this, the nurse claimed there had been a “network problem” and that a doctor had issued a prescription regardless. This was never communicated to me at the time, and I was not informed that any billable process had been completed. I did not consent to, participate in, or benefit from any consultation. Any internal technical or operational issue cannot reasonably be used to justify charging a patient without their knowledge or agreement.
Furthermore, I attempted to contact the pharmacy on more than three occasions to resolve this matter directly, but received no response.
