FALSE ACCUSATION/ISLAMAPHOBIA?-BABIES SUFFER CONSEQUENCES
I would like express my utter disgust and inhumane treatment of a mother with two babies, one aged 2 months and the other aged 1yr 3 months. I was surprised to receive a phone call from my young wife telling me that she is being accused of shoplifting after purchasing a few items from Clicks in Centurion shopping mall and she is being held in an office in the Fidelity Security offices. On arrival i inquired on what exactly transpired and found this to be hilarious. My daughter who is now 1yr 3 months was getting crabby in the Clicks store while my wife was shopping for cosmetics. My baby was given a random item in the body lotion isle off the shelf to occupy her. My wife carried on with her shopping and finally got to till point to pay for her products. As she was exiting the store, the security system in place sounded and she immediately stopped and realized that the lotion that was given to occupy baby was not removed before exiting the store. She was immediately confronted by the security guard on duty who asked for her purchase slip. She handed the slip over and told the guard that she only gave the lotion to the baby to occupy her. The guard then called store management, my wife explained exactly what had happened and that she had no intention of purchasing the lotion as it was a random selected item to occupy baby and it was going to be taken away from the baby and placed on a shelf before purchasing her items. My wife honestly and innocently forgot to remove the item which was with my baby in the trolley, Clicks management and the Fidelity security wanted to hear nothing from the woman wearing a veil who is a devout Muslim female with respect, morals and values. My wife was then accompanied by Fidelity to their office. She was told that is a shoplifter and she will be dealt with by the police. She was kept in their offices and we was told that she has to wait for the police to arrive. My son who is 2 months old and is currently being breast fed has a severe skin condition around his pelvic area, its a type of contact eczema that needs to be monitored at every nappy change. Once nappy is filled, it has to be changed immediately and prescribed ointment has to be app****. The stay at the Fidelity office +-3hrs made it very difficult for her to attend to my kids who were being attended to by my mother in law who was in a different store at the time of the incident. We immediately attended to the kids on my arrival as they had both filled their nappies to the extent that my daughters excreta seeped through her nappy and messed her clothing. I had a chat with Clicks management and wanted to review their camera footage to prove my wife's innocence but i was refused. Had my wife deliberately hidden or shoved the item on camera i would have accepted full responsibility. As we were attending to the kids the police officers arrived. They took the statement from the security guard and immediately placed my wife under arrest. She then broke down and exclaimed in her tearful voice that she did nothing wrong, why are they arresting her? I was refused to accompany my wife to the police station in the presence of a police officer, i was refused to get into the back of the police van while my wife was being taken to the police station in Lyttelton. On arrival we were attended to by an officer who found this to be very strange as it was an honest mistake. She asked as to why Clicks management didn't want to take the item and call it a day as this is an honest mistake from the accused. At this i began to wonder as to why she was placed under arrest by Clicks management when she did nothing wrong. Was it because of the current situation that we are facing on global scale regarding Muslim women who wear veils? Has this now affected our country as well? Where we as Muslims have had no issues regarding the practice of our religion. My entire family including my in-laws are loyal Clicks customers who even make use of the Clicks club card facility. This matter will be dealt with accordingly, my wife was released on bail from the Sunnyside police station at 1 am this morning, she will be appearing in court in the next week. My wife is a 22yr old, young mother who was traumatized by Clicks Centurion and Fidelity Security. I hope this be a warning to mothers with busy young kids and veiled Muslim women who shop at Clicks.
