Expired medicine
On the 05th of October 2024, I bought medication(using medical aid) at Clicks Dainfern Square. When I got home I discovered that medication expired on 07/2024. I was in pain, frustrated and crying. My partner phoned, then I told him that medication I bought has expired. With the pain that I was in, he couldn’t just leave me & say you will get help tomorrow, he had to drive all the way just to bring me medication(he bought it cash) and make sure that I am ok. Unplanned trip that carried unplanned expenses.
Few weeks later when I was healed I went back to clicks to complain about all that. It was a Saturday, and the acting pharmacy manager who was working that Saturday said he will inform the pharmacy manager on Monday and to ask her to call me.
She indeed phoned me on Monday, apologized and said she will get their delivery guy to deliver me the correct medication and fetch the expired one in my possession. Then I told her that my partner already brought me medication. So I must be reimbursed for the costs incurred due to their negligence. Then she said I should come so we can talk about it.
I made time and went to see her, then she apologized again and said should they give me another medicine that is not expired and I said to her, no, you can see I’m healed. She then refunded medical aid for the expired medication. Then she asked me if I’m now happy and I said no, I am not happy because there were costs incurred because of this incident, your pharmacy’s negligence, so I want reimbur*****t for those costs.
Then she went to the store manager and brought me R300.00 and said it’s for the costs. I rejected it, and I had to remind her of the costs. Then she said she will engage with their area/regional pharmacy manager then come back to me. She only came back to me once saying they looking into my matter and she will continue updating me. Then she never updated me again, I had to go to the store myself for follow ups.
Eventually this year when I went again for follow up, she said to me they don’t reimburse for costs incurred due to their negligence. They only exchange/refund medication.
I had already taken 2 tablets when I realized that the medication has expired. I was soo scared. I am so disappointed with Clicks. Clicks used to be my number one choice of pharmacy but now I have changed my mind. Dischem is now my number choice.
I still want my reimbur*****t!
